In response to feedback, we have now extended this consultation to the 17 June. However, when this formal consultation closes, we will look for ways of continuing our conversation. Keep checking this page and the council website for more information on how you can get involved. Together, we can help build a more resilient Belfast.
Many thanks for your interest in our Resilience Strategy. So far, we’ve held nine neighbourhood workshops, five public drop in sessions, held lots of walkabouts and attended several public gatherings. More than one thousand people have engaged with us over the course of our consultation- and nearly one third of those are young people! We are very keen to complete our conversation, so we are extending the deadline for submissions to the draft Resilience Strategy until Wednesday 17th June.
We hope this will give us time to engage with the public virtually in the coming weeks, to ensure our future Resilience Strategy reflects the views of the people of Belfast. If you have any questions on the consultation, contact resilient@belfastcity.gov.uk
Resilience aims to ‘future proof’ Belfast- so that the city is ready for the challenges we face this century.
Belfast is a member of a global network of cities like Barcelona, Cape Town, San Francisco and Christchurch, all working to reduce vulnerabilities and build our capacity to adapt to shocks and stresses. Each city has appointed a Commissioner for Resilience- a role to help collaboration across cities, and enable them to identify the major risks they face, and to agree ways to respond. Belfast’s Resilience Commissioner, Grainia Long, can be contacted at the details below.
This draft strategy is the first time that we have mapped out the major strategic risks- shocks and stresses- to the city of Belfast and put together a draft plan in response. Your input is hugely important as we work towards our goal to make Belfast more resilient- to transition to an inclusive, low-carbon, climate-resilient economy in a generation.
We have drafted some survey questions to collate feedback on the draft strategy. You might find this structure helpful to follow. If not, you may prefer to give general feedback by going directly to question A8.
Join us in the Belfast resilience conversation!
We are consulting to ensure the draft Resilience Strategy reflects the needs and aspirations of the people of Belfast, and to build an open and collaborative approach to future proofing the city.
